Principals

Moyez Karmali

Moyez Karmali specializes on developing International Public and Private sector infrastructure projects using over 25 years of experience on international projects.

Moyez' early career was in Engineering, working with GEC, UK as R& D Engineer and subsequently R&D Manager specializing in Aerodynamics and Acoustics. He moved to Canada where he joined the Howden Group and progressed rapidly from Contract Engineering to Assistant Manager of Engineering.

To augment his career goals and interests in the Commercial and Financing aspects of large international infrastructure projects, he joined Babcock & Wilcox in 1988 as Proposal Manager and rapidly progressed to Business Development Manager and Manager of Proposals and Cost Estimating.

During Moyez' brief tenure with Babcock and Wilcox, he was an integral part of a team that took their International Division from a sales base of $100 million per year to over $1 billion within a span of 8 years. As Project Director he was personally responsible for closing some of the largest deals in the company's history including a US$600 million Power Plant for Indonesia in consortium with Marubeni.

In 1997, Moyez joined Canadian Engineering Company Agra Monenco as Vice President. Within a very short period, he recognized the merits of outsourcing of Business Development activities with strategic partners to achieve results more effectively with less front-end costs to both the customer, as well as large corporate entities.

He thus launched MAK Alliances in 1999, a company specializing in International Business Development in niche markets in Asia and the Caribbean.

Tim Runge

Tim was a co-founder of an export market development company based in Toronto during the 1980's. He then joined capital equipment manufacturer Babcock and Wilcox International where he became Manager of Countertrade before leaving to join Newcourt Capital in the late 1990's as a Director within its new Offset & Structured Trade Finance unit.

Even before joining Newcourt Tim had participated in projects and proposal work valued at over $1 billion involving commodity-based financing techniques, offset and countertrade (now generally called structured trade finance).

A Director of C& I Projects Inc. he is based near Toronto. His strength lies in understanding the bidding requirements of developers or manufacturers and patterning offset and finance proposals in ways as to meet those requirements.

Tim is a director of MTM Capital Inc., an independent specialized international project and economic development company established, among other reasons, to use countertrade and offset techniques for project financing in especially difficult markets. Tim is a graduate of Queen's University at Kingston, Canada.
